DIY Pendant Shade Light

If you read about the Whetstine Nursery last Fall than you remember the pendant light we put together on the cheap.

It turned out great but was a little tricky with the wiring as we fashioned it from an Ikea swag light kit.  When I came across this electrical ceiling wire kit at World Market a couple weeks ago I couldn’t wait to give it a try.

For only $12.99 you have everything you need to wire a pendant lamp, all you need is the shade. I have been making some updates to our guest room so decided to give it a try in there.  I stumbled across a great deal at Hobby Lobby when I found this $99 shade on clearance for just $9!

So with the help of my husband we removed the current light fixture which was generic and not exciting.

It left a little bit of a ring which was easily removed using a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Sponge.

From there we followed the directions of the lighting kit.  The only customization we made was trimming down the length of the wire.  And in about 15 minutes and about $20 total we had this lovely fixture!

I can’t show you a picture of it in the context of the rest of the room because it’s a work in progress, but I’ll have more pictures of the entire project soon!
